At Pink each of our artists has a speciality when it comes to design, so naturally
you will want to choose the artist who you will collaborate with. We deliberately
say "collaborate" because that is exactly what happens. From the initial consultation
through to the post tattoo care we consult with you and make sure that you are as involved in
every step of the creative process in as much as you want to be.
Creating a Great Tattoo:
1. consultation
When we first meet we will discuss your ideas for your tattoo, this will include discussing your skin-type and subsequent colour options. If you are having cover-up work then we will be able to help you understand what you can expect.
2. Preliminary sketches
Our artist will then draft a preliminary sketch or sketches and outline any colour choices.
3. Second appointment
During this meeting you will view the design sketches and make any final changes.
4. Start tattooing
If it is a large tattoo then the first stage of tattoo is to do the outline as shown on the right. Smaller tattoos are outlined and completed in one sitting. This also depends on the amount of shading and if the client needs breaks or not.
5. For larger tattoos - revisit the outlining
This depends on the way your body takes up the ink. Sometimes a second touch up of the outlining is needed to produce a long-lifer, a tattoo that is really crisp, well defined and will look great in the years to come. Because we are focused on quality then we are happy to do this check-up step.
6. Colour and shading
This is done in stages depending on the duration the client wishes to sit for. Attention to detail at this stage makes the difference between a good tattoo and a great tattoo!
7. Healing period
Naturally after tattoo work there is a healing period. We will provide you with appropriate advice for your skin type and the size of your tattoo. It usually takes 4-6 weeks for healing, and this depends on the size of your tattoo, your lifestyle and other factors. Good healing of a tattoo really contributes to a high quality finish.
8. Post healing check up
During the healing phase some colour may lift out and so we always provide a check up and may re-touch any parts that need it.
